A portrait of the thief, the stranger, the lover, the one who never showed up, the one who slipped away. Remember the gaze, the chase, the flutter, the feast, the bliss, the solace, the shadow, the ache, the furnace ….the fall.

Love is a poem: a sail on the black sea, a shackle, a castaway, a message in a bottle, a reconstitution, a deep sigh, an orchestra, a simple chord. Love is driven by hunger, obscured by fears. Love is the moon in your eyes; Love is whom or what you see when your belly aches and you are lonesome once more. Love is absence and longing, love is your heart on the floor.

Expose yourself: love is human strangeness, love is sorrow, love is accidental. Show us how you pushed that someone away when you were too afraid to let yourself go; Love is all-encompassing, a feeling: a doing and undoing, a smokescreen, a flight, a weight, a forsaken, a case of the sweetest wine, a violin.

Romance us, we want magic and wonder; we want to see the one who held out their hands and presented you with their heart too, the one you always call whether you have won at the slots or just walked into a wall. The one who, when you are together, the world closes in on and only the two of you exist. Show us the one who stole your heart and held on tightly.

Issue No. 3 is your love story, the tale of you the other exposed. Show us it how it began, progressed, ended, lingers, or swells endless. Be candid, be fresh, be humbled and strange- be human, as there is no other reasonable way to talk about love: the wild horse: reckon-less, reasonless; Love is an empty hollow; Love is an ocean;
LOVE IS A STOLEN HEART.

From the series The Sewing Machine and the Umbrella

Night photography is another language- it is a different spacial plane- a different consideration of time- I see it as a hyperbolic reality- by framing isolated areas of light and darkness- it contains the subject whilst simultaneously proposing an infinite in black. It's this relationship that is surreal in subtlety- the person or the object and its stance with darkness proposes a multitude of questions.

Lindus was born in Paris, France and currently resides in Samos, Greece.

ANGEL CHIRIBOGA

"Estirpe" from the |eks| series

I am interested in exploring one of the primary inhibitors to my sleep: cancer. Four years ago, my father was diagnosed with cancer. The fact that I am both far away from home, and that cancer is a synonymous with having an expiration date, has made my head spin day and night.

Using x-ray images, Chiriboga explores the ubiquity of cancer by making the “'invisible visible... [to] express the continuous presence of the past contained within us'” as David Maisel wrote.

CATALOGUE OF THE NIGHT

Nighttime changes things; alters the landscape; night is bare, stripped down to nothing. Where solitude frightens us, and shadows dance on walls. Fingertips scrape skin, residue sneaks from beneath the nails; the night is a warm body by your side and the stain of a stranger’s scent. Disturbed and uncertain, night is a lonesome rampage. Mysteries unfold in the night; where we take a ride on a midnight train; where direction exists inside objects and pulses, and details, like the cold wind cutting through your hair and a distant rabbit’s howl, are all we have.

In darkness, you are fooled, and the world turns askew, slight at first. Creatures slink in, brutish and savage; sleep is stolen away. Night is the peephole to crawl into other worlds, tangible and alive. Fantastical places where order is unknown, where tall hats crawl from circus tents, elephants tiptoe across treetops, and girls with fins walk on water and where love, despite it all, manages to find you.

In the night there lurks a masquerade, waits a solace, finds a fantasy, haunts a nightmare.

Issue 2 will connect the nighttime narratives from across town and from oceans away. An inspired catalogue of what keeps us from our dreams, what lingers in our darkest shadows, and what fastens us to our pillow each night. Issue 2 is meant to collectively expose the most intimate vulnerabilities, illusions, hallucinations, dreams, fantasies, and memories that are stored in our midnight hours.

"I remember in 2001 how I realized that for Americans, the sky would never be the same"...

"in New York and in Washington DC, our buildings fell. For days there were no planes overhead, just traveling birds, and we watched in loops on our televisions or out our windows as fax machines and bodies clamored to the ground. We watched as people jumped, windows exploded, glass heaved itself in daggers at pedestrians. We finally became members of civilization while the newsmen of the world hurled expletives at the people on those flying planes. We took our place in the post traumatic stress of the sky. We would never again look up in the same way. That was a beginning. That was a new way to be. And the birds have never looked more majestic."
